Fishing will fix it all!

Lately for Austin, it seems as though fishing can cure whatever ailes him. "Mom, your head hurts? We should go fishing!" "I have a science test that I am not ready for...We should go fishing!" For those of you that know Austin, you know that he gets fixated on one thing at a time. For a while it was the Marines, then it was skydiving, then it was paintball, and now it's fishing. He will research and research a topic until he feels that he knows everything that there is to know about it and then he will try it. We spend countless hours just wandering around Bass Pro Shop looking at all the fly fishing lures and we discuss which lure would work for which fish and at which fishing location. For a girl that is not very "outdoorsy", this is very draining. But I know that it makes him happy and gets his mind off whatever puberty ridden drama he is living at the moment! He has a friend that feels the same way. They are fishing buddies and best good friend...and I really think that they will be forever! So it didn't surprise me when Dalton got sick that they decided to fish. They spent most of the day and part of the night Saturday fishing. Just spending time together and being boys before Dalton's surgery. I know that everything will be ok, but none the less...it is surgery. Dalton had a head injury not too long ago and went to the hospital to get things checked out. They did a CAT scan and found a tumor in his head that Dalton affectionately named "Bob". It's not cancer and it's not attached to his brain, it's between his skull and his brain membrane. A few years back, my dad had a brain tumor and it was very hard on Austin. So when he found out that Dalton has one too, he was very upset. This will be Austin's first friend to have to have a real surgery and he is scared to death. He doesn’t want to talk about it...he just wants to fish!

This is Dalton & Austin...we were at the Aquarium Downtown and they were scared a shark was going to get them on the train ride! I love this picture!
